If you are registered to vote from abroad in Lebanon’s upcoming 2022 parliamentary elections and your Lebanese passport is expired, 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 $𝟭𝟬. If your Lebanese passport or Lebanese ID card are valid, this announcement does not apply to you.

This procedure 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 (i.e., the navy blue models); 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 (i.e., the burgundy and older models). Note that this procedure does not renew your expired passport; it simply validates your expired passport as a form of identification for election day. It will be noted on your passport that it is “strictly used for voting.”

This process can be done in person or by mail at the Embassy of Lebanon in Washington, DC and at the General Consulates in New York, Detroit, and Los Angeles. It can also be done at your respective polling station on the day of elections (May 8th), the locations of which will be announced at a later date. However, 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱?
Your expired machine-readable or biometric passport (navy blue).
– Your individual extract (ikhraj qayd ifradi), regardless of the issuance date.
– A $10 money order made out to “The Embassy of Lebanon” or the respective General Consulate.

-A self-addressed prepaid / stamped envelope

– There’s no form required

Check to see which consular jurisdiction you fall under (see below) and send an e-mail to the corresponding e-mail address in order to first ensure that your name is registered on the electoral list, as this process is only available for those who are registered to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
