Ambassador Antoine
Chedid arrived to the
United
States to assume his
duties in July 2007,
following his service as
Head of the Bureau of
International
Organizations,
Conferences and Cultural
Relations at the
Ministry of Foreign
Affairs in Beirut from
November 2001 until June
2007.
Prior to
Lebanon, he was
Ambassador of Lebanon to
Greece from 1998 to
2000. He was Consul
General in New York and
the eastern States
between 1991 and 1998,
and in Los Angeles,
California between 1984
and 1986.
As a senior career
diplomat of the Foreign
Service, Ambassador
Chedid was member of the
Lebanese delegations to
twelve General
Assemblies of the United
Nations in
New York. He also
served as Presidential
Adviser for American
Affairs between 1989 and
1991 and as Head of the
America Desk Office in
the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs.
Ambassador Chedid
entered the Foreign
Service in 1978 and was
posted overseas in the
United
States and Greece. As a
young diplomat, he held
the positions of
Assistant to the
Secretary General of the
Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, Consul, Press
Attaché and Political
Officer at the Lebanese
embassy in Washington
between 1979 and 1984.
Ambassador Chedid was
born in Zahle/Lebanon in
1951. He is a lawyer
graduate from the
French University
of Saint Joseph/School
of Law. He is married to
Nicole Saba and
has three children,
Georges ,
Rhea and Anthony.
He speaks fluent Arabic,
French and English.
